The $1 charge is a temporary pre-authorization hold that your bank places to check your card is valid. It isn't a real charge, Linktree never collects it, and it's reversed automatically. Here's what it is and how long it lasts.
What a pre-authorization hold is
A pre-authorization hold isn't a payment. Your bank places it to confirm that your payment method is active before any real charge is made. The bank holds the $1, and Linktree never receives it.
How long the hold lasts
How long the hold stays on your statement depends on your bank. Most holds disappear within a few minutes to a few days, but some take up to a few weeks. If it's still there after that, check with your bank.
What happens next depends on your payment:
- If your payment goes through before the hold ends, the hold is removed and replaced by the full payment amount.
- If your payment doesn't go through, the $1 hold is released back to your account.
Tip
If your payment didn't go through, find out why your payment failed and how to fix it.
