How to make your Linktree easier to find in search

Complete the Discoverability strength checklist in your settings, and on a Pro or Premium plan write your own meta title and meta description. Both give search engines and AI assistants clear information about who you are and what you do. They can't guarantee a ranking or a place in AI answers, but they make sure your Linktree is ready to be found.

What SEO discoverability is

Search engine optimization (SEO) means making your Linktree clear and complete, so search engines understand what it's about and which searches it matches. AI assistants built on large language models (LLMs) read the web in a similar way, so the same work helps them too.

Linktree gives you two tools:

  • Discoverability strength: a checklist with a progress bar that shows what to add to your Linktree. It's available on all plans, including Free.
  • Custom metadata: your meta title and meta description, which shape how your Linktree can appear in search results and when it's shared. They're available on Pro and Premium plans.

Check your Discoverability strength

Your Discoverability strength shows how well your Linktree is set up to be found by search engines and AI assistants. It isn't a ranking.

  1. Go to Settings and scroll to Discoverability strength under SEO and discoverability.
  2. Select Complete strength checklist.
  3. Select any unfinished item under Boost your strength to see what to do, then complete it.

Your current level shows as a label, such as Medium discoverability, above a progress bar. The label and bar update as you complete checklist items. They can also go down if something on your Linktree changes, so it's worth checking back from time to time.

The checklist items

  • About this account: write a short description of who you are and what visitors will find on your Linktree. It appears as a small link in your Linktree footer. Write it yourself in plain language, using at least 60 words.
  • Connect a social account: add your Linktree URL to one of your social accounts, such as your Instagram bio. A link back from a social platform helps show search engines that a real, active person or brand is behind your Linktree. See How to add your Linktree URL to your Instagram bio.
  • Add a short bio: add a brief description to the top of your Linktree. It gives visitors, search engines, and AI assistants instant context. See How to add a bio description.
  • Add at least 3 links: a Linktree with several links looks complete and gives search engines and AI assistants more to read.

Set your meta title and meta description

You can write your own meta title and meta description. They're the headline and short summary that search engines may show for your Linktree, and they can also appear when your link is shared. You'll find them in Custom metadata under SEO and discoverability in Settings. For steps and writing tips, see How to change your meta title and description.

Tips for a more discoverable Linktree

  • Be specific. Say clearly who you are and what you offer.
  • Write like a person. Repeating keywords doesn't help and makes your Linktree harder to read.
  • Give your links clear titles, so visitors and the tools that read your Linktree know what each one is.
  • Keep it current. Remove outdated links and update your bio when things change.
  • Share your Linktree widely: on your social accounts, in your videos and emails, and on your website.
  • Link to your Linktree from your own website if you have one, for example in its social icons, footer, or homepage. This helps search engines and AI assistants connect the two.
  • Give it time. Search engines and AI assistants can take a while to notice changes, and some changes may never affect how you appear.

What discoverability can and can't do

These tools help search engines and AI assistants find and read your Linktree. They don't control what those services choose to show.

  • We can't guarantee your Linktree will appear in search results or AI-generated answers.
  • We can't promise a particular position, a timeline, or an increase in traffic.
  • Search engines and AI providers change how they work, and they make their own decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my Discoverability strength go down?

It changes when something on your Linktree changes, for example if you remove links or your bio. Go to Settings and select Complete strength checklist to see which items need attention.

Why isn't my Linktree showing in search results at all?

On a Pro or Premium plan, check that Hide profile from search engines is turned off in Settings under SEO and discoverability. When it's on, search engines won't include your Linktree in their results.
