On a Pro or Premium plan, you can write your own meta title and meta description in Custom metadata, under SEO and discoverability in your Settings. They're the headline and short summary that search engines and apps like Facebook and WhatsApp can show for your Linktree. A clear title and description tell people what they'll find before they visit.
What a meta title and description are
- Meta title: the headline for your Linktree in search results and shared links.
- Meta description: the short summary that shows under the title.
Neither appears on your Linktree itself. They show up when your Linktree appears in a search result, or when you share it on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, below the sharing preview image.
Set your meta title and description
- Go to Settings and open Custom metadata under SEO and discoverability.
- 📱 On mobile, tap More to open the account menu, then tap Settings.
- Enter your Meta title.
- Enter your Meta description.
Your changes save automatically.
Note
Changes can take some time to show on other platforms. Search engines also decide what to display, so they may show their own text instead of yours.
Write a good meta title and description
For your meta title:
- Use your name or brand plus a few words about what you do, from six to 12 words.
- Put the most important words first. Your title can be up to 255 characters, but search results usually cut it off after about 60.
- Make sure it matches what's on your Linktree.
For your meta description:
- Summarize who you are and what visitors will find, in 20 to 40 words. Your description can be up to 255 characters, but search results usually cut it off after about 155, so lead with the most important part.
- Write in plain, natural language and an active voice.
- Include a call to action, like inviting people to subscribe to your newsletter.
- Use the words people search for, such as your name or brand, without repeating them.
