You can sell digital products like eBooks, guides, and templates straight from your Linktree. You set the price, buyers pay through Stripe's secure checkout, and the money goes to your Stripe account. This article covers how payments, fees, refunds, and earnings work once you start selling.
Note
Selling digital products is only available in certain countries, and other eligibility criteria may apply. Check who can earn with Linktree. If your country isn't supported yet, you can still share free digital products.
Tip
To add a product to your Linktree, follow How to share and sell digital products. To sell a course, see How to create an online course.
Set up payouts with Stripe
You need a Stripe account to sell digital products or courses. You connect it when you set a price on your first paid product.
- Select Set up payout account when you set the price on a digital product or course. Follow the prompts to log in to Stripe or create an account.
- Complete Stripe's verification. Stripe may ask for business details and to confirm your email.
- Choose a daily, weekly, or monthly payout schedule in your Stripe Dashboard.
Once Stripe has verified your account, your sales go straight to your Stripe account. Stripe then sends payouts to your bank on the schedule you chose.
Pricing and fees
You can set a price between $1.00 and $10,000 USD, or the local equivalent.
- Linktree fee: A percentage of each sale, which depends on your plan. Compare fees by plan.
- Stripe processing fee: Varies by country, and is typically 2.9% + $0.30 USD per sale.
Note
All fees are deducted automatically and are non-refundable. Read how transaction and processing fees work for the details.
How customers buy your products
- A visitor selects your digital product or course link on your Linktree.
- They pay through Stripe's secure checkout.
- They get access to download the files straight after paying.
- A receipt is emailed to them automatically.
Buyers can download their files again later. How to access your digital products and courses walks them through it.
Refunds, chargebacks, and taxes
When you sell a digital product through your Linktree, you're the seller of record. The contract is between you and your customer, so you're responsible for following the laws that apply to you, including tax and consumer laws, and for handling refunds and disputes.
- Refunds: Issue them from your Stripe Dashboard, under the transaction.
- Chargebacks: Stripe notifies you, and you can respond with evidence.
- Taxes: You're responsible for collecting and reporting taxes in your region. Talk to a tax advisor if you're unsure.
Note
Linktree doesn't manage refunds or disputes. They're handled entirely through Stripe.
Track your earnings
- Go to Earnings under Earn in your Linktree Admin.
- Select Your Products to see your sales history.
- Select a transaction to view its receipt or issue a refund.
Fix "Verification pending"
If your Linktree Admin still shows Verification pending, check for these common causes:
- You haven't finished every step in Stripe, like uploading your ID or business details.
- Stripe is still reviewing your account.
- You're looking at a different Stripe account.
When you connect Stripe to Linktree, a new Stripe account is created for your Linktree store. If you've used Stripe before, you might be looking at your old account. To switch:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
- Select the account dropdown in the top-left corner.
- Select the account with your Linktree store name on it.
If your payouts are paused, see How to verify your Stripe account for payouts.
