How to protect your account from malware

To protect your Linktree account from malware, remove it from your device first, then reset your password and turn on multi-factor authentication. Malware is unwanted software installed on your computer or phone without your permission. It's designed to steal sensitive information, like your login details.

Remove malware from your device

Malware can be disguised as an app, a popular download in an app store, or a browser extension. To get rid of it:

  • Install an up-to-date, independent antivirus scanner and scan your devices.
  • Remove untrusted extensions or add-ons from your web browser.
  • Reset your browser settings.
  • Update your operating system.

Tip

For device-specific help with preventing and removing malware, see the guides from Microsoft, Google, and Apple.

Secure your Linktree account

  1. Reset your password right away if you think your login details have been stolen.
    • Remove any malware from your device before you reset it, or the new password can be stolen too.
  2. Turn on multi-factor authentication so a stolen password isn't enough to log in.
