To earn money with Messaging, connect Stripe, then accept tips, send paid files, or share your products in a conversation. Visitors pay without leaving the chat, and messaging you stays free for them.

Earning in Messaging is only available in certain countries, and other eligibility criteria may apply. Check who can earn with Linktree.
Connect Stripe
You need Stripe connected to get paid. Without it, you can still turn on tips, but visitors see a message that paying isn't available.
- Go to Messaging and select Configure.
- Under Make money, follow the prompt to connect Stripe.

Accept tips
Turn on tips and visitors can send you a tip when they message you. Tipping is always optional, so anyone can still message you for free.
- Go to Messaging and select Configure.
- Under Make money, select Set up next to Accept tips.
- Turn on Enable tips and enter a Minimum tip amount as a whole number.
- Turn on Add thank you note and write a note if you want to thank people automatically when they tip.
- Select Done.
You can also set up tips from Earn > Products. Select Add product, then Tips.
Send a paid file
Use a paid file for one-off exclusive content, like a photo or a file, that you haven't added as a product.
- Go to Messaging and open a conversation.
- Select the $ icon next to the + icon.
- Add a title and set your price.
- You can price files you upload, but not links or content that's already on your Linktree.
- Attach the file and send it.
The visitor sees an Unlock button with your price, and the file stays hidden until they pay.

To sell a file to anyone who visits your Linktree, not only the people you message, add it as a digital product. See How to share and sell digital products on your Linktree.
Share one of your products
Send a product you've added in Earn > Products, like a booking, course, or digital product, and the visitor can check out without leaving the conversation.
- Go to Messaging and open a conversation.
- Select the + icon and choose one of your products.
- Selling a digital product is available on Pro and Premium plans.
- Send your message.
Check your fees
Linktree adds a service fee to each tip or sale. The rate depends on your plan. You'll see the rate for tips under Accept tips in Configure. For how fees work across Linktree, see Understanding transaction and processing fees on Linktree.
Track your earnings
Every paid tip, file unlock, and product sale in Messaging creates an order. To see them, go to Earn and select Orders. Each order links to its conversation and to any earlier orders from the same buyer. You refund and export these orders the same way as any other sale, and refunds go through Stripe.
